Even before the receipt in VGIK I precisely knew, that Sergey Apollinarievich will take me in the workshop. Because he has looked my documentary film about work in Norilsk student''s group from MVTU Bauman''s name. A film showed on the Central TV, local film critics have printed laudable recalls for me. And at the second examination I have perfectly played a scenic etude because the nature has allocated me with actor''s talent. Further, if I participated, as the actor, in works of the fellow students, my authentic, truthful existence on a scene only underlined lack of talent of my scenic partners. I exulted and rejoiced. To get in VGIK to Gerasimov! It was something!!!
However I have received an estimation for written work �three points, an allowance in the form of the grant because of low points at examination I have lost, I have rushed to search for work somehow to live. In a city Reutov, that near Moscow, I have agreed with trade-union committee of one solid enterprise that I will conduct employment with children at children''s theatre "Ladoshka". I have passed on schools, have typed many nice and talented children. Some of them then participated in my scenic works in our workshop. As a rule, Sergey Apollinarievich, after successful scenic submissions, rose from an armchair, strong shook hands with me for the given spectator pleasure, and muttered, that I supposedly will be the film director-documentation officer in game cinema. After display of scenic performance, including Lubi Germanovoi and Sashi Donec, my fellow students even have arranged discussion: whose this merit? All shouted, that supposedly simply Pozdnyakov has found talented children, therefore and such brilliant result was received. Gerasimov has murmured, that, no, the director too as though relates to scenic success of the actors. But nobody listened to Gerasimov. So my student''s share involuntarily was born to be on a rate the single. I have spat upon such foolish situation and have found a creative outlet in work with children at theatre with the fun-loving name "Ladoshka". Very few people from my fellow students knew, that I have already got director''s education in Leningrad, well I possess a trade, and I continue to study its laws independently.
Sergey Apollinarievich shot good films, authentic, clear to the people. He loved actors and granted them possibility to improvise on a film platform. For S.A.Gerasim''s actor''s improvisation spent film kilometres. Then it found gold needles of talent of the actors in numerous stacks of cine hay. Achieved excellent creative results as commander Suvorov was expressed, not ability, and number Kilometers of the finished shooting material! The artistic flair and art taste at it, of course, were phenomenal. All it replaced to it possession Stanislavsky''s of system. In respect of actor's direction I at Sergey Apollinarievicha have not received anything, all I already was at me.
But influence on me Sergey Apollinarievicha's of lectures was phenomenally notable. In each new film work I saw, that all I leave from theatricality further and I come nearer to realisation of such difficultly achievable concept what is "kinematografichnost" in art cinema.
At lecture to us S.A.Gerasim and Tamara Fyodorovna Makarova came accompanied by the stenographer. For excitement during the not numerous performances I even "stammered". I recorded all lectures in a thick writing-book, all wished to study and understand. Sergey Apollinarievich was the ingenious lecturer! Thanks to phenomenal memory and excellent knowledge of a subject of lecture. After years I all the same have come to conclusion, that brilliant lectures of my Teacher were samples well-known in history of mankind of a science sofistiki
In the last film works With, And, Gerasimov all further and further left from propagandised by him "kinematografichnosti". As if was not at cinema of the period of Italian "neo-realism", there was no film "Stalker" of Andrei Tarkovsky. In a film �Peter''s Youth soldiers run in the brand new uniforms just sewed by tailors. A lot of theatricality can be noticed in this two-part film. Truthfulness and documentation of films "Komsomolsk" and �Seven courageous� have disappeared. I Come to conclusion, that Sergey the last years was strong in theory, but real practice of film production made it. Participants of a film crew made also: operators, costumiers, property men. I witnessed dispute as the Master convinced the property man to change in studio any carpet supposedly it, not from that epoch. The property man too resulted any argument in the protection. Gerasimov has noticed me in studio, and, excited with useless dispute with the property man, has started to lecture to me about what at it will be received remarkable cinema as spectators will be amazed truthfulness, realities of the life of an epoch of young tsarevitch Peter recreated on the screen. By the way, other carpet in pavilion and has not appeared �
Sergey Apollinarievich was through the party person. Also urged all of us to enter a party and to be explorers of its ideology. Somehow I with horror have learnt from the pupil, that the Komsomol organisation has recruited it in informers from KGB. Young guys informed, on whom it will take in head, for what monetary awards and any permits received. I when worked at Norilsk studio of TV, wished to leave the Komsomol organisation. That there! Such noise have arranged! Have not allowed! I have read the pupil lecture that is bad to climb without demand during another''s lives and have resulted for an example, to what sights at this problem Japanese adhere. After that conversation I have ceased to trust the pupil, have ceased to be frank with it. After years, already in the beginning of reorganisation the guy has met me and has told: Sanish, you were right! You advised to pass school of dialogue with people,"street"school. Thanks you for advice, the street has helped me to become the adult person and to find friends.� Internal freedom �about which you to us told, has come to our life, in our consciousness!
Degree film �Glance in the childhood� I has removed at studio of M.Gorkogo. S.A.Gerasimov work was pleasant. Then it was twice shown on the Central TV. I assumed, that I will be at this studio and to work. Believed, that the Teacher has noticed my calling. It was received nothing! There were fellow students with the Moscow residence permit which have wanted to take my place.
To me have given a direction for work on a film studio of the Ministry of Defence. I have terribly taken offence. Tried about to talk over with Sergey Apollinarievichem, but Tamara Fyodorovna Makarova has told to me, that, arrange then the destiny independently. It has been allowed personnel department VGIKA to stop the order my attempts of independent employment. From me have hidden, that then the Sverdlovsk film studio requested the film director-graduate.
Has got a job on Moscow mail, spaced apart people of the cable. Looked forward to hearing to the letter in the Central Committee of the CPSU in name of Vladimir Ivanovicha Dolgih, the defender of interests of Siberians and northerners.
The institute searched for me three days. All had a shock! I was issued by two grants and have sent for work to Kazakhstan.
Olzhas Sulejmenov has invited me to work to Alma-Ata. However a year later on a post of the chairman of the Kazakh cinema it was replaced by other person to whom Russian directors were not necessary.
